This week on Bonnies Insider, we get to know the story behind one of the most famous Bonnies basketball fans, a fan who calls himself "Captain Beer."
In the Alumni Spotlight, we meet with former Bonnies swimmer Kevin Murphy. A 2001 graduate of St. Bonaventure who was part of an Atlantic 10 championship Bonnies team, Murphy’s day job is as a teacher in North Carolina. Away from the classroom, though, he runs Ocean Cure, a non-profit organization that makes the beach and surfing available to those battling disabilities.
Our student-athlete feature is with women's basketball newcomer I'yanna Lops as we get to know one of Bona's fresh faces off the court.

When the Bonnies men's basketball team finally hits the court this season, the player wearing No. 5 will be familiar to Bonaventure fans, but he will have a different name on the back of his jersey. Junior Jaren Holmes tells us the heartfelt story behind his decision to change his name.

Bona's men's lacrosse team has raised over $25,000 the past two years for families of individuals battling cancer and they have goals to raise even more funds over the next month. We feature their efforts to make an impact in the battle against cancer.
In Coach's Corner, golf coach Ryan Swanson talks about the work that has gone into making the Bonnies the top collegiate program in Western New York and the excitement for when competition resumes in the spring.
We also get into the spirit of Halloween and talk to student-athletes about their favorite ways to celebrate the holiday.

This week we catch up with former #Bonnies men's basketball star Chris Matthews who today is one of the most famous skills coaches in the world with over 1.5 million followers on Instagram. Better known as "Lethal Shooter," his work is shaping the next generation of NBA and WNBA stars.
Back on campus, several international student-athletes spent their summer at SBU, unable to head home because of COVID-19. We talk with them about their experiences.
In Coaches Corner, we meet with women's basketball head coach Jesse Fleming who rose from the ranks as student manager to head of the program since his days as a Bonaventure undergrad.
Finally, we talk to softball junior Madison Stewart, who is working toward becoming a volunteer firefighter in her Orchard Park community.

This week on Bonnies Insider, we have two can’t miss features.
First, we spotlight the connection the Bonnies men’s swimming and diving and women’s soccer programs have had with Friends of Jaclyn, an organization aiming to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric cancers by pairing them with local teams, clubs and community groups. Over a decade ago, the men’s swimming and diving team paired with Zack Murphy during his battle with a brain tumor. That connection has lasted to this day with Zack now being a senior at St. Bonaventure and manager with the team. More recently, the women’s soccer team added Rory, a sixth-grader from Kane, Pa., who has changed the lives of everyone involved with the team.
We meet with Zack, former men’s swimming coach Sean McNamee, Rory’s mother, Kate, and Friends of Jaclyn founder, Denis Murphy, to discuss the organization’s special connection with St. Bonaventure Athletics.
In the Alumni Spotlight, we feature Bonnies basketball alumnus Tyler Relph, who has gone on to great success in the basketball world after helping turn the program around during his days as a player. Today, he is a trainer for some of the top talent in the game, using some of the skills learned at Bonaventure to shape the next generation of talent.

In our third episode of “Bonnies Insider,” we return to the AD’s Office to chat with Director of Athletics Tim Kenney as he discusses the return of our teams to practice and the possibilities for basketball season, including how the department will be ready whenever state officials declare their intentions for whether or not fans will be able to attend games.
Our student-athlete feature is with Bonnies men’s basketball junior Jaren Holmes, who has legally changed his name from Jaren English. We also get a look at men’s basketball practices and talk to players about their excitement for the season.
