ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Senior Emily Izydorczak and junior Sydney Beeman gave the St. Bonaventure women's cross country team a pair of top-10 finishers to show the way for the Bonnies Saturday morning at the Little Three Championship.
Hosting the meet for the first time since 2015, the Bonnies finished second with 49 team points behind Canisius which won the event with 17 points. Niagara came in third with 54 points. Saturday's 5K course ran through the fields behind the Reilly Center, portions of the Allegheny River Trail and Bob's Woods.
Izydorczak paced the host team with a time of 19:26.49, good enough for fifth in the field of 48 competitors. Canisius' Siobhan Quinn crossed the finish line first with an impressive mark of 17:50.35. For Quinn, it gave the senior a clean sweep of the Little Three during her career as she has won the event in each of her four seasons.
Beeman posted her personal best 5K time, breaking the 20-minute barrier for the first time in her Bonnies career with a run of 19:49.62 to finish 10th overall.
Freshman Theresa Dristle took third on the team and 14th overall in her Bonnies debut with a time of 20:06.22. Sophomore Samantha Henry (20:17.32) was 17th across the stripe and another debuting Bonnie, freshman Lindsey Lytle also was in the team scoring with her mark of 20:17.83 to finish 18th.
