ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University women's cross country junior Emily Izydorczak recently won the fan voting for top Bonnies athletics moment of the year.
Izydorczak scored her first collegiate individual victory with a 5K time of 18:35, the first win for a Bonnies women's runner in three seasons, as the team took second overall at the Anderson Invitational in September.
After winning first round voting to be a final four selection, she went up against Aaron Phillips earning Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year, men's basketball beating Syracuse at the Carrier Dome and men's soccer defeating No. 22 VCU to clinch a berth into the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
In the final round of voting, Emily earned 54 percent of the vote, accumulating a total of 3,011 votes. Aaron Phillips was Izydorczak's closest competition, earning 42 percent and 2,339 votes.
Izydorczak's win was part of a resurgent season for the cross country program. Her time of 18:35 in the Anderson Invitational was also the third-fastest 5K time in program history.
