Bonnies Welcome Saint Francis (Pa.) To SBU Fitness Center

The St. Bonaventure University women's tennis team hosts Saint Francis (Pa.) Friday afternoon at the SBU Fitness Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.

The Bonnies defeated Daemen Sunday, March 10 by sweeping all nine matches on the day. After sweeping the doubles matches, Penelope Abreu and Kahlei Reisinger kept the momentum into singles play. Abreu won easily, 6-1, 6-2, while Reisinger earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the No. 2 flight. Andrea Roque, Buse Gunay, Emily Stanley and Paula Velilla won their singles matches, 6-0, 6-0, to earn the victory about the Bonnies.

Underclassmen have led the way for the Bonnies this season. A Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native and freshman, Abreu is tied for the team lead with eight singles wins on the year. Sophomore and Tekirdag, Turkey native, Gunay also has eight wins for the Bonnies. Stanley has added seven wins for the Bonnies in singles. The freshman duo of Abreu and Roque have combined for a team-leading seven doubles wins at the No. 1 flight.

The Red Flash enter Friday's match with a record of 2-11 on the season with wins over Morgan State and Mount St. Mary's. Raksha Bode and Stephanie Miller each have six wins in singles to lead the Red Flash. In doubles, the pair of Bode and Lucia Seigford are tied for the team lead with four wins with Miller and Laura Gutierrez.

The Bonnies are off until Saturday, March 23 when they host Colgate at the SBU Fitness Center. That match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
