Bonnies Tennis Teams Set for Weekend Atlantic 10 Road Trip

STORYLINE
Both St. Bonaventure men's and women's tennis teams will travel to Philadelphia this weekend for matchups with two Atlantic 10 teams. Both will battle Saint Joseph's on Saturday and then the Explorers of La Salle on Sunday. The Bonnies will look to grab momentum before returning back home next weekend for Senior Day against Marist.

SAINT JOSEPH'S

  • The Hawks men's tennis team currently stands with a 6-7 record.  
  • Sophomore's Dan Tan and Tim Stierle lead the Hawks at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Tan has 16 wins and Stierle has 14 wins.
  • Stierle and senior Tristan Boustany are 3-6 at No. 1 doubles, the pair is 9-8 overall.
  • The women's tennis team has a record of 3-7, notching wins against Sacred Heart and Fairfield.
  • The Hawks have lost their last two matches to Siena and Bryant.

LA SALLE

  • The Explorers men's team has a 4-9 record.
  • Senior Brian Balico has won his last two matches at No. 2 singles.
  • Sophomore Francesco Mowery at No. 1 singles and junior Tomas Christian at No. 4 singles recently came away with wins over Siena in their respective matches.
  • The women's tennis team has a 2-6 record.
  • At No. 2 singles, freshman Ali Snyder came away victorious in her match recently against Chestnut Hill.
  • In doubles, the pairs of juniors Jade Smith and Ally Santerelli, and junior Jayla Smith and freshman Maansi Malhotra earned wins in their respective matches to seal the doubles point against Chestnut Hill.

BONNIES NEWS AND NOTES

  • Victor Blanco, Hector Martinez, Indra Patwardhan, Lukas Linden Malmberg and John Rutkowski are all coming into this weekend's matches riding momentum as they all racked up singles wins against Niagara last time out.
  • Malmberg is the raining Atlantic 10 Rookie of The Week after earning two singles wins this past week.
  • At No. 1 doubles, the pair of Blanco and Martinez have earned three wins.
  • Martinez has compiled a record of 10-7 at No. 2 singles this year for the Bonnies.
  • Patwardhan has been steadily improving his overall as he has gone 7-2 at No. 4 singles.
  • Gabriella Bowe, Kahlei Reisinger and Lauren Doversola all picked up wins in their respective singles matches last time out against Niagara.
  • In doubles, the pairs of Bowe and Mara Martinez-Santori, and Doversola and Clara Herberts, both earned wins in their respective doubles matches to provide the doubles point for the Bonnies.
  • Bowe has 7 wins at the No. 2 singles spot.
  • In doubles, Bow and Martinez Santori have compiled 7 wins, Herberts and Reisinger have put together six wins.
  • Both the men's and women's tennis teams will return to the St. Bonaventure Fitness Center on Sunday, April 9, as they host Marist on their Senior Day.
