#Bonnies Women's Tennis to Host Bucknell and Binghamton for Weekend Matches

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. --The St. Bonaventure University men's and women's tennis teams will resume their spring schedule this weekend with the women hosting Bucknell on Saturday and Binghamton Sunday at the St. Bonaventure Fitness Center, while the men will travel to Youngstown State and face the Penguins on Friday night.

The St. Bona women's team split its matches last weekend on Feb. 11, falling to Duquesne, 6-1, but then regrouping and defeated Slippery Rock, 6-1, later that afternoon. Dominique Mortier picked up two wins in No. 4 singles competition while Mara Martinez-Santori, Gabriella Bowe, Clara Herberts, Kahlei Reisinger and Lauren Doversola also earned singles wins against Slippery Rock. Clara Herberts and Kahlei Reisinger picked up two wins in No. 2 doubles.

The St. Bonaventure men's tennis team dropped two matches last week to Davidson and Virginia Tech. Their record now stands at 3-4 heading into this weekend's matchup. Hector Martinez led the way for the Bonnies, picking up a singles win against Davidson in No. 2 singles and then followed that performance by almost knocking off Virginia Tech, 6-3, 7-5. Guillermo Garcia battled his way into three sets against Davidson, but ultimately fell in No. 3 singles. John Rutkowski put together some strong sets but fell 7-5, 6-4, to Davidson in No. 4 singles.

The Bucknell women's team comes into St. Bonaventure at 2-1 so far in the spring season the Binghamton Bearcats come in with a 1-5 record. Bucknell beat Binghamton by a score of 5-2 last weekend. Binghamton's lone win came against Sacred Heart, 5-2. Bucknell's other win came against Atlantic 10 rival La Salle.

Youngstown State got back on track last weekend after previously losing three straight matches to make their record 5-3. YSU defeated UC Riverside by a score of 6-1. They have picked up victories against Tiffin University, Niagara, Duquesne and Saint Francis, but have lost tough matches to Weber State, UNLV and New Mexico State.

The men's match on Friday begins at 7:00 p.m. at Youngstown State. Action at the St. Bonaventure Fitness Center for the women's team begins at 10:00 a.m. Saturday against Bucknell, and 12:00 p.m. Sunday against Binghamton.
