The St. Bonaventure women's tennis team continued their fall schedule this past weekend by competing in the Army Invitational Sept. 25-27.
Freshman Gabriella Bowe highlighted the Bonnies singles action by winning her match defeating Jamie Campisi of Lehigh 6-4, 4-6, 10-7. In the round of 16, Bowe fell to Allyson Hayley of Army 7-5, 6-3. This was the only singles match win for the Bonnies over the weekend.
The highlight for the Bonnies' came courtesy of the Bowe and Mara Martinez-Santori. The duo reached the Quarterfinal round of the A doubles bracket. The pair earned a first round bye before defeating Genevie McCormick and Carolyn Pitman of Army, 6-3, in the second round.
In the round of 16, the two continued to play well, defeating Luize Strike and Hannah Liljekvist of Seton Hall 6-4. Reaching the quarterfinal round, Bowe and Martinez-Santori fell to Mayu Sato and Alexis Zobeideh of Fordham 6-2. Falling just two matches short of qualifying for the championship match.
St. Bonaventure will wrap up their fall schedule at ITA Regionals hosted by Dartmouth. The tournament runs Oct. 22-25.
