Bonnies 200-Medley Relay Program Record Highlights Day One Of A-10 Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – The St. Bonaventure University women's swimming and diving team kicked off the 2020 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships with a bang as the 200-medley relay team of Zanre Oberholzer, Rachel Kimmel, Mia Cote and Katrina Wardner set a new program record Wednesday evening at the SPIRE Institute. 

The Bonnies are sixth after three events with 64 points. George Washington is atop the leaderboard with 106 points while Duquesne (94 points) and UMass (77 points) round out the top three. Richmond is in fourth place with 73 points and Davidson is fifth with 67 points. 

The Bonnies started the night session by breaking the 200-medley relay program record. The team of Zanre Oberholzer, Rachel Kimmel, Mia Cote and Katrina Wardner clocked in with a time of 1:41.36, finishing in fifth place. They broke the previous record of 1:41.98 set by Devon McFadden, Maria Rocchi, Lina Kutsko and Gerle Kerecsen at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championships.

After qualifying seventh in the 1-meter dive during the afternoon preliminaries, Elena Rohr improved her total score by nearly five points in the evening, posting a final score of 247.40 to capture fifth place.

The Bonnies wrapped day one action up with the 800-freestyle relay. The quartet of Wardner, Kimmel, Hayley Tasselmyer and Claire Schaef turned in a time of 7:32.45 to finish in eighth place.

Action resumes Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. with preliminaries for the 500-freestyle, 200-IM and the 50-freestyle.
