ST. BONAVENTURE vs. BINGHAMTON

The St. Bonaventure University women's swimming and diving team returns to the Reilly Center Pool to host Binghamton Monday, Jan. 20 for the final home dual meet of the 2019-20 season. Prior to the meet on Monday, the Bonnies will honor six seniors for the work and dedication to the swimming and diving program. Diving is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. and swimming will begin at 2:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The swimming team last competed at the Zippy Invite in Akron Dec. 1-3. The Bonnies finished fifth and were led by Rachel Kimmel who had fourth place finishes in the 100 and 200-breaststroke races. The Bona divers were in action Jan. 10-11 at the UB Diving Invite. Elena Rohr led the Bonnies with a fourth-place finish in the 3-meter dive.
Monday afternoon the Bonnies will honor six seniors for their work and dedication to the women's swimming and diving program over the past four years – Izzy Aguilera, Erin Carmody, Tayler Gnan, Elena Rohr, Ava Bianchi and Emily LaMay.
Aguilera is a four-year member of the diving program. As a freshman, she earned her first career victory in the 1-meter dive at the A-10 Quad Meet. In her junior season, Izzy placed third in the 3-meter dive at Niagara and finished in fourth place for the 1-meter and 3-meter dives against Colgate. This season, she earned first place in the 3-meter dive and second place in the 1-meter dive at Colgate, along with a second-place finish in the 3-meter dive against Canisius.
Carmody is a four-year member of the swimming program. As a freshman, she swam in the preliminaries of the 50-freestyle, and 100 and 200-backstroke at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships. In her sophomore year, Erin was part of the second place 200-medley relay team that finished in a time of 1:52.65 against Canisius. As a junior, she placed third in the 200-backstroke at Colgate, was a member of the second-place 200-freestyle relay team at Cornell and finished fourth in the 200-IM and fifth in the 100-freestyle vs. Niagara. This season, Erin grabbed third place in the 200-backstroke at Colgate and was part of the second-place 400-medley relay team against Canisius.
Gnan is a four-year member of the swimming program. As a freshman, she swam the 1,650, 1,000 and 500-freestyle, and 200-backstroke at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championship. In her sophomore season, Tayler finished 19th in the 1650-freestyle at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship. As a junior, she won the 200-backstroke at Colgate, and grabbed second in the 100-backstroke, fourth in the 500-freestyle and was a member of the third-place 200-medley relay team vs. Niagara. This season, Tayler earned two fifth-place finishes in the 200-backstroke at Colgate and Cornell.
Rohr is a four-year member of the diving program. As a freshman, she finished eighth in the 1-meter dive and 12th in the 3-meter dive at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championship. In her sophomore year, Elena finished eighth in the 1-meter dive and dove in the consolation finals of the 3-meter dive at the 2018 A-10 Championship. As a junior, she earned fourth place in the 3-meter dive and placed 13th in the 1-meter dive at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship. This season, Elena has won first place in the 1-meter dive at Colgate and grabbed first in the 1 and 3-meter dives against Canisius.
Bianchi was a three-year member of the swimming team before transitioning to a manager role. She is a two-time member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
LaMay has been a manager for the program for four years.
The Bonnies return to the pool Friday, Jan. 31 on the road at Niagara. Diving is slated for 11:00 a.m. and swimming is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The meet against Niagara will be the final tune up for the Bonnies before traveling to the Atlantic 10 Championships in Geneva, Ohio Feb. 19-22.
