Bonnies Host Canisius In First Home Meet Of Season

Friday, Nov. 15 – Diving 1 p.m./Swimming 4 p.m.
St. Bonaventure, N.Y. – Reilly Center Pool

The St. Bonaventure University women's swimming and diving team hosts the Canisius Golden Griffins at the Reilly Center Pool Friday afternoon for the first home meet of the season. Diving will start at 1:00 p.m., and swimming will start at 4:00 p.m. 

St. Bonaventure last swam at Cornell Nov. 9, falling, 164-136. Rachel Kimmel and reigning Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week Katrina Wardner led the Bonnies, each winning two events. Kimmel won the 100-breaststroke and the 200-breaststroke, clocking in at 1:04.00 and 2:20.19, respectively. Wardner won the 100-butterfly back-to-back with the 200-IM, with times of 58.05 and 2:07:40. Claire Schaef, Mia Cote, Ivana Janssen and Zanre Oberholzer also picked up wins for Bonaventure, but it was not enough as Cornell emerged victorious in the tightly contested dual meet.

The Golden Griffins come into Friday's meet with a 4-2 record, losing at Binghamton last Saturday, Nov. 9, 207-93. Senior Gianna Cornelia claimed victory twice, winning the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, with scores of 230.92 and 230.40, respectively. The only win in the women's swimming events was by junior Sage Pollack in the 50-yard freestyle.


The Bonnies Diving teams compete at the West Virginia Diving Invitational in Morgantown, West Va. The three-day event begins Thursday, Nov. 21. The swimming teams are off until the Zippy Invite at Akron, Ohio, Dec. 6-8.
