ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – After an injury-riddled dual meet season, the St. Bonaventure University women's swimming and diving team is set for the 2019 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships.
This year's championships will take place in Geneva, Ohio at the Spire Institute and begins Wednesday, Feb. 20 and runs through Saturday, Feb. 23.
Senior Brittany Hart looks to impress once again on the diving boards at the A-10 Championships this year. In 2018, Hart finished seventh on the 3-meter board. The Ellwood City, Pa. native recently set the St. Bonaventure program record in the 3-meter dive, scoring a 295.95 against Niagara on Feb. 2.
Ivana Janssen holds the top time for the Brown and White in the 100-freestyle with a time of 51.86. She qualified for the 2019 CSCAA National Invitational Championships that will be held in mid-March. Fellow freshman Claire Schaef holds the best time in the 500-freestyle, a 5:02.29 mark set at the Zippy Invite in December.
Another freshman making waves this season is Rachel Kimmel. The Fort Loudon, Pa. native has earned wins in nine breaststroke events this season. In her first 100-breaststroke win of the year, Kimmel broke the meet the record, swimming a 1:04.80 to win the event. She has four other 100-breaststroke wins and four more in the 200-breaststroke.
All four days of this year's Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships will be streamed on ESPN+.
The women's team will look to build off a successful championship meet from a season ago that saw them finish in fifth place. Last year's placing marked the highest finish for the Bonnies since the 2011 season when they tied for fourth place.
