The St. Bonaventure University women's swimming team travels to Akron, Ohio for the annual Zippy Invite hosted by Akron University. The invitational is set up to imitate the Atlantic 10 Championships in February. Action begins Friday, Nov. 30 with preliminary races starting at 9:00 a.m. and the final heats beginning at 6:00 p.m. The same schedule will remain for Saturday, Dec. 1. The final day of the invite is Sunday, Dec. 2 with preliminary heats at 9:00 a.m. and the finals at 4:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies last competed against Canisius on Nov. 10. Bona was victorious, 148-95, winning 11 out of 13 events. Rachel Kimmel, Claire Schaef and Elena Rohr each won two events to pace the scoring for the Bonnies. Katrina Wardner, Ivana Janssen, Mia Cote and Zanre Oberholzer each won individual events for the Brown and White. Also winning for St. Bonaventure was the 200-medley relay team consisting of Oberholzer, Kimmel, Makenna McCartney and Marissa Carrig.
The Bonnies have found ways to win meets in dominating fashion. Against Canisius the Bonnies earned 11 first place finishes out of 13 events. On Oct. 20 against Colgate, Bona swept the 13 event dual meet en route to a 165.5-77.5 win over the Raiders. At the Atlantic 10 Classic, also at the Spire Institute, St. Bonaventure took down La Salle in convincing fashion, 206-144.
The Bonnies women's swimming at diving team will take a break for the holidays until Friday, Jan. 11 when the diving team travels to the UB Diving Invite. Both teams return home Sunday, Jan. 20 when the Bonnies host Cornell at the Reilly Center Pool.
