Bonnies Finish Third At Justin Jennings Memorial Invite Saturday

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Freshman Rachel Kimmel swept the 100 and 200-breaststroke, pacing the St. Bonaventure University swimming and diving team to a third-place finish at the Justin Jennings Memorial Invite at Colgate Saturday afternoon.

Rutgers took home the team title with 1,317.5 points. UMass finished in second (866.5 points), St. Bonaventure third (538 points), Colgate fourth (415 points) and Le Moyne (143 points) to round out the team standings.

Kimmel clocked in at 1:04.80 in the 100-breaststroke, setting a meet record. In the 200-breaststroke, she grabbed first with a time of 2:25.00.

Katrina Wardner scored herself a pair of fifth-place finishes on Saturday. She started the day with a 4:41.20 mark in the 400-IM and followed that by ringing in a 1:58.54 in the 200-freestyle.

Freshman Claire Schaef continued her strong start by finishing third in the 1650-freestyle with a time of 17:54.94. She also added a fifth-place finish in the 200-butterfly, touching the wall in 2:10.34.

The Bonnies will make their home debut on Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Reilly Center Pool against Colgate.
