ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's swimming and diving team will be in action for the first time in over a month for a dual meet at Binghamton on Saturday.
The Brown and White last competed in the three-day event at Akron from Dec. 2-4, finishing sixth out of 10 teams with 616 points.
At Akron, Alyssa Levac and Maria Rocchi highlighted the event, both earning St. Bonaventure record-breaking times in the 100-breaststroke. Levac, at 1:03.21, and Rocchi, at 1:03.46, hold the top two times anyone has swam in the Atlantic 10 this season. The pair also earned top-10 finishes in the 200-breaststroke, with Levac finishing fourth at 2:17.06 and Rocchi eighth at 2:21.41. The Brown and White also earned record-breaking times in the 400-medley relay. The team of Devon McFadden, Rocchi, Bridget Jordan and Samantha Kuchinski finished seventh at 3:48.47, which is now the top time in school history. And Theresa Hutton, Levac, Emily Quinn and Rachel Taylor finished ninth at 3:50.01, which broke the previous SBU record as well.
The Bearcats earned wins in three of its first four meets, racing against common foes Niagara, Colgate and Canisius. Most recently, the Bearcats competed in the Florida International Sprint Invitational on Jan. 9. Sydney Atendido earned a first-place finish in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:09.72. In addition to Atendido's success, Katilyn Lange added three top-10 finishes while Rebecca Nelson had two.
