AKRON, Ohio – The St. Bonaventure University women's swimming and diving team ended the first day of action at the Akron Zippy Invite in sixth place with 213 points.
The Bonnies relay teams came up big for the Brown and White. The 200-freestyle relay team of Samantha Kuchinski, Kathryn Godlewski, Bridget Jordan and Rachel Taylor finished eighth at a time of 1:35.75 while the 400-medley relay team of Devon McFadden, Maria Rocchi, Jordan and Kuchinski came in seventh at 3:48.47. Theresa Hutton, Alyssa Levac, Emily Quinn and Taylor finished close behind in ninth at 3:50.01. Both times in the 400-medley relay broke school records.
In the preliminary events earlier in the morning, McFadden swam a 2:05.58 in the 200-IM, which broke a school record at the time. McFadden later broke her own record as she swam a 2:04.17 in the finals, which was good for a ninth-place finish.
Brittany Hart qualified for the finals in the 1-meter dive in the preliminaries and finished eighth in the finals with a score of 222.35.
The Bonnies will resume action Saturday morning with preliminaries at 9:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m.
