ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped an Atlantic 10 doubleheader to George Washington Saturday afternoon at Joyce Field.

GAME 1 – George Washington 11, St. Bonaventure 1
The Colonials jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to a two-run home run and an RBI single.

George Washington tacked on four more runs in the top of the second, three coming off a bases clearing double from Alexa Williams.

Jessica Linquist and Jenna Cone hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the third, pushing the Colonials lead even further to 9-0.

The Bonnies pulled one back in the bottom of the third when Olivia Whitecar belted an RBI triple to center field, plating Grace Walker.

The Colonials added runs in the fourth and fifth inning, securing the victory.

Tierney Fitzgerald got the ball in game one, working 2.0 innings and surrendered seven hits. Ally Haskell finished the final 3.0 innings of play, allowing five hits.

Just as in game one, the Colonials used a seven-run second inning to take an early commanding lead that they would not relinquish.

George Washington (31-8, 21-1 A-10) poured on six more runs in the third to put the game completely out of reach.

Emily Phalen started in the circle for the Bonnies in game two, tossing 2.0 innings while Elizabeth Lis struck out two in 3.0 innings of work in relief.
