The St. Bonaventure University softball team welcomes George Washington to Joyce Field Saturday and Sunday for a four-game Atlantic 10 series. Both Saturday and Sunday's doubleheaders are slated to begin at 12:00 p.m.
Fan attendance for the spring semester on campus at St. Bonaventure University is limited to SBU students, faculty and staff, and two family members per home athlete. Visiting team parents and fans are not permitted on campus.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies hosted Dayton at Joyce field last weekend, splitting the four-game series with the Flyers. Bona earned a dramatic walk-off victory over Dayton in game two thanks to a Grace Perechinsky home run, winning 6-5. The Bonnies then went on to take game one Saturday, 7-4, after a six-run second inning gave them an early lead.
Leading the way for the Bonnies in the batter's box is freshman Grace Walker who is hitting .357 in 42 at-bats. Walker also leads the Bonnies in doubles (6), on-base percentage (.481) and slugging percentage (.500). Also hitting above .300 for the Bonnies is Emily Lewandowski who is batting .302 on the year. Haley Strang leads the team with at-bats and has 20 hits, including a double and three home runs.
ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Colonials enter the weekend with an overall record of 29-8 and are 19-1 in Atlantic 10 play this season with their only loss coming to Saint Louis April 24. As a team, George Washington leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks fifth in the NCAA in batting average, hitting .344 as a squad. The Colonials also lead the A-10 and rank in the top 10 in the NCAA in on-base percentage (.425), runs per game (7.2) and slugging percentage (.584).
Borkowski is a three-year member of the softball, having appeared in 53 career games. She's tallied over 120 at-bats through three seasons with the Bonnies, collecting 22 hits that includes two doubles. As a freshman in 2019, Borkowski played in 41 games, driving in six runs in 97 at-bats. Borkowski is set to graduate next weekend with a degree in health science.
Siebert is a four-year member of the softball program and has appeared in 21 games despite battling injuries throughout her entire career. This season, Siebert has played in five games and has a double. She will earn her degree elementary education next weekend.
