Softball Hosts George Mason At Joyce Field This Weekend

The St. Bonaventure University softball team takes home field for the first time in 698 days when George Mason visits Joyce Field Friday, April 2 and Saturday, April 3. The Bonnies and the Patriots will play doubleheaders both days with Friday's games starting at 2:00 p.m. while Saturday's twin-bill is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m.

The Bonnies dropped a pair of Atlantic 10 doubleheaders on the road at Dayton last weekend. Strang was a bright spot in the Bonnies lineup last weekend on the road at Dayton, batting .462 in four games against the Flyers. The sophomore outfielder went 6-for-13 with two home runs while tallying five RBIs. Strang also slugged .923 for the Bonnies last weekend.

George Mason enters the series with an overall record of 9-5 and are currently 4-4 in Atlantic 10 play. The Patriots started the season 8-0, including four wins over the Bonnies, but have since won just one game out of their last six contests. Marlaina Bozek leads George Mason with a .313 batting average while EJ Bankson and Taylor Dadig each have 11 hits to lead the Patriots.

In the circle, Haellie Gordon is 4-2 in seven starts with a 2.82 ERA, striking out 29 batters in 39.2 innings pitched.

The Bonnies get the chance to play on Joyce Field for the first time in 698 days Friday afternoon. The last time the Bonnies played a game at Joyce Field was May 5, 2019 when they hosted Saint Louis.

Emily Lewandowski currently leads St. Bonaventure with a .375 batting average with a home run and three RBIs on the season. Tierney Fitzgerald and Grace Perechinsky have also hit a home run each for the Bonnies this season.

Emily Phalen leads the Bonnies in the circle with a 3.00 ERA, striking out 12 opposing batters in her first season with the program.

The Bonnies head back out on the road for a non-conference series with Fordham Saturday, April 1.
