Bonnies Drop 3-0 Decision To Loyola-Chicago

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Loyola-Chicago Thursday evening at The Spring Games.

The Ramblers (12-6) got on the board in the top of the first inning thanks to a sac fly off the bat of Shannon McGee, scoring Jessica Shields for a 1-0 lead.

The Bonnies (2-3) had a chance to tie it up in the bottom of the third when McKenna Holtz stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error, but the Bonnies could not push her across.

Loyola-Chicago added an insurance run in the top of the fifth off an RBI double from Madison Ebeling, making the score 2-0. Ebeling belted her second RBI double of the contest in the top of the seventh for an insurance run.

Ramblers starter Sydney Ruggles struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to take the win.

Rylee Hehir got the start for the Bonnies, tossing a complete game. Hehir allowed seven hits and three earned runs on the afternoon.

Holtz singled for the Bonnies while sophomore Abigail Stone worked three walks in the contest.

The Bonnies are back in action Friday, March 6 with a pair of games. Bonaventure takes on Merrimack at 11:00 a.m. followed by a matchup against Holy Cross at 2:30 p.m.
