ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team suffered a 5-2 setback against Saint Louis Sunday at Joyce Field in the Bonnies season finale.
The Billikens jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Kat Lane tripled to push across the first run of the game and Sadie Wise brought her home with an RBI groundout.
In the top of the fourth, Saint Louis added three more runs to its lead. Allie Herron came through with a sac fly made the score 3-0. Later in the inning, Megan LoBianco reached on an error that brought two more runs home, pushing the Billiken lead to 5-0.
The Brown and White loaded the bases with no outs in the top of sixth but Saint Louis was able to get out of the inning unscathed.
In the seventh, Brittany Fair led off the inning with a single and scored on a double from Brooke Kane-Walker. Alexandra Piergustavo was up next and worked a walk, bringing the tying run to the plate in Grace Perechinsky. The Billikens however, worked their way out of the inning and secured the 5-2 win.
Ally Haskell got the start in the circle for the Bonnies and went the distance, allowing three earned runs and striking out two.
