ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The Bonnies found themselves in a strong pitching match-up for game three against George Washington Friday afternoon.
However, the steady pitching of freshman Ally Haskell was not enough to secure the St. Bonaventure University softball team a victory. The Bonnies fell to the Colonials, 2-0, at Joyce Field as GW's Sierra Lange remained outstanding in the circle.
Ally Haskell pitched a complete game for the Bonnies, allowing only four hits and striking out three GW batters. For George Washington, Lange pitched her third straight game and allowed only four hits as well, while striking out six Bonnie batters on the way to her 23rd victory of the year.
George Washington (35-14, 11-6 A-10) got the only runs of the game in the fourth.
Despite multiple opportunities for both teams to score, the game remained a shutout into the top of the fourth when Elaina Shelepak doubled down the right field line with two runners on for the Colonials.
Bonaventure made an effort to rally in the final at-bats when Olivia Golay smacked a one-out double. Abby Borkowski lined out to first for the second out and Lange picked up a strikeout to end the game, however, ending the threat.
The Bonnies (7-26, 4-12) travel to Canisius on Tuesday for a mid-week non-conference doubleheader. Game one is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
