St. Bonaventure, N.Y. – Joyce Field

The St. Bonaventure University softball team will return home for a three-game conference series against George Washington. The teams will compete in a Thursday doubleheader and one game on Friday, beginning at noon.

Due to inclement weather in the forecast, the three-game series with the Colonials has been moved up a day. The Bonnies will now play their doubleheader on Thursday with game one starting at 2:00 p.m. Game three will be played on Friday beginning at noon.

The Bonnies took two out of three games in conference series with Rhode Island this past weekend. Brooke Kane-Walker, Alexandra Piergustavo, Mikayla Short and Grace Perechinsky all smacked home runs in the series. Junior Rylee Hehir threw a complete game in game one, striking out five Ram batters and allowing only four hits.

The last meeting between St. Bonaventure and George Washington opened 2018 conference play for both teams in Washington, D.C. In the meeting, the Bonnies were able to take the final game of the series, 8-7, with the help of a seventh inning home run from Olivia Golay and three RBIs from Grace Perechinsky.

The Bonnies are beginning to get into the swing of things, tallying three doubles, three triples and five home runs in their last six games. McKenna Holtz is responsible for all three triples, a team-high for the Bonnies and a career-high for Holtz. In the final game of the Rhode Island series, three Bonnies scored home runs, including Grace Perechinsky who has two home runs in two games.

George Washington is currently 31-13 on the season and 7-5 in the Atlantic 10. The Colonials lead the Atlantic 10 in several offensive categories: Jenna Cone leads the A-10 in home runs (16) and RBIs (55). Sierra Lange serves as a dual threat, holding the highest batting average in the A-10 at .439 while also recording the most strikeouts (155) and holding the third-lowest ERA in the conference (2.59). The Colonials currently sit fifth in the Atlantic 10 standings.

The Bonnies will face off against Buffalo at Joyce Field Wednesday, April 24 for a non-conference game. The teams are slated to play one game at 4:00 p.m.
