Bonnies Welcome Saint Joseph's for Weekend Series

The St. Bonaventure University softball team will resume conference play at home with a three-game series against Saint Joseph's. The Bonnies will compete in a Saturday doubleheader and one game Sunday, beginning at noon.

The Bonnies split their doubleheader home opener against Robert Morris. Junior Rylee Hehir had six straight strikeouts to open game one and Hehir completed the game with nine strikeouts. She allowed only two hits in five innings of work. She allowed only two hits in five innings of work. Wednesday's performance ranks just behind her 11 strikeout performance against Morgan State last season. Grace Perechinsky and Brooke Kane-Walker each had a home run to power the offense.

St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's last met in the 2018 season, where the Bonnies were swept by the Hawks to end the season. The Bonnies fell in the first game, 7-1, and dropped game two, 9-5, before ending the series with a 4-0 loss. Perechinsky had four hits in the series.

Brooke Kane-Walker has hits in the last four games for the Bonnies and has gone 6-for-13 at the plate, including seven RBIs. Kane-Walker leads the team with 12 RBIs. Wednesday evening, she went 3-for-5, including a double and a home run in the first game.

St. Bonaventure is currently 2-3 in Atlantic 10 play and is ranked seventh in conference standings. Saint Joseph's is third in the A-10 with a record of 4-2, and sit behind Dayton and UMass, who both have a record 5-1. 

Saint Joseph's is currently 15-15 on the season and 4-2 in the Atlantic 10. Sarah Ostaszewski leads the Hawks offense with .390 batting average with 39 hits and 20 RBIs. Ashley Ventura is currently the Hawks leading pitcher with an ERA of 2.91 and 50 strikeouts in 105.2 innings of work. Saint Joseph's was picked to finish seventh in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.

The Bonnies will host Fordham on April 10 for a mid-week conference doubleheader at Joyce Field. The first game is slated to start at 2:00 p.m. with the second game following immediately after.
