Hawks Take Two From Bonnies Saturday

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped a pair of games on the road to Saint Joseph's on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks took game one, 7-1, and completed the doubleheader sweep with a 9-5 game two victory.

Game 1 - Saint Joseph's 7, St. Bonaventure 1

Grace Perechinsky brought home the first run of the game in the top of the first inning on an RBI single to right field that scored McKenna Holtz.

The Hawks, however, gained momentum right back with a five-run second inning led by a three RBI double off the bat of Stacey Mayer. 

Mayer singled in the sixth inning for the Hawks that brought home two more runs for a 7-1 advantage.

Rylee Hehir was credited with the loss in the circle tossing a complete game for the Bonnies. 

Game 2 - Saint Joseph's 9, St. Bonaventure 5

Similar to game one, Perechinsky opened the scoring for the Bonnies with an RBI single, bringing around Holtz to give Bona an early 1-0 lead.

Holtz extended the lead to 2-0 with her fourth home run of the season. 

A Taylor Marinelli two-run home run and a bases clearing triple from Amanda Kulp put the Hawks ahead, 5-2, in the fourth inning. 

Saint Joe's added four insurance runs in the sixth inning, taking the lead to 9-2.

Emma Borysevicz tripled home a pair of Bona baserunners to cut the deficit to 9-4 in the top of the seventh inning. Morgan Phillips singled home Borysevicz, bringing the Hawks lead to 9-5. 

Saint Joseph's would hault the Bonnies rally and secure the game two win.

Grace Van Horn took the loss in the circle tossing five innings and Sydney Burk worked one inning of relief for the Bonnies. 

Play resumes Sunday for the third and final game of the series. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m.
