BRONX, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped an Atlantic 10 weekday doubleheader on the road at Fordham Wednesday. The Rams took game one by a score of 8-0 and followed with a 4-1 victory in the game two.
Bona falls to 8-26 overall and 1-12 in the Atlantic 10. Fordham improves to 24-17 and 12-1 in A-10 play.
Game 1 – Fordham 8, St. Bonaventure 0 – 6 Innings
Fordham scored a run in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. Madi Shaw reached on an error that allowed Skylar Johnston to cross home.
Kylie Michael added another run in the second inning, extending the Ram lead to 2-0.
Three Ram runs in the fourth and another three in the fifth put the game out of reach, 8-0.
Elizabeth Enovitch tripled and Golay doubled for the Bonnies offense.
Game 2 – Fordham 4, St. Bonaventure 1
Fordham answered, however, with a two-run home run off the bat of Johnston in the bottom of the third, allowing the Rams to take a 2-0 lead.
Back-to-back solo home runs in the fifth from Johnston and Chelsea Skrepenek, pushed the Fordham lead to 4-1.
Rylee Hehir was charged with the loss in game two, going the distance for the Bonnies (7 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K).
The Bonnies return home to Joyce Field Saturday, April 21 for a three-game set against Atlantic 10 foe UMass. Saturday will be a doubleheader with game one slated for 12:00 p.m. and Sunday will be the third and final game with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
