Billikens Capture Doubleheader Sweep

Billikens Capture Doubleheader Sweep

DAYTON, Ohio – Saint Louis was dominant in a pair of games Friday afternoon to score a doubleheader sweep over the St. Bonaventure softball team in Atlantic 10 competition.

The Bonnies now stand 8-19 overall and 1-6 in A-10 play while Saint Louis improves to 21-16, 7-3.

Friday's games were played on the campus of Dayton University instead of the regularly scheduled site of Saint Louis due to inclement weather.

The Billikens seized complete control with a seven-run second inning and never looked back on the way to a convincing game one win in five innings.

Saint Louis sent 11 batters to the plate in the inning, collecting six hits as the Billikens set the tone in the opener. They would then add a run in the third and three more in the fourth to erase any doubt.

Sadie Wise posted four RBIs to lead the offensive charge for the Billikens.

Alexandra Deal registered two hits including a double while Mikayla Short also singled for Bona.

GAME TWO – Saint Louis 10, St. Bonaventure 1 (5 innings) | Box Score (PDF)

Saint Louis kept its momentum from the opener, scoring early and never looking back on the way to a win in the second game as well.

The Billikens remained hot with a two-run first and four more runs in the second to set the tone.

SLU pushed across a run in the third and three more in the fourth.

St. Bonaventure was able to get on the board with a run in the fifth. Short singled through the left side, moving to second on a ground out. McKenna Holtz then followed with a hit to center, putting runners at the corner. Deal bounced into a fielder's choice on the left side, allowing Holtz to cross the plate.

Unfortunately for the Bonnies, that would be the extent of the damage done as the Billikens were able to cap off the sweep.

Brooke Kane-Walker delivered a 2-for-2 line at the plate while Grace Perechinsky also had a hit.

The two teams will not have a third game in the series due to the scheduling and site changes following inclement weather in the St. Louis area.

The Bonnies will be back in action Wednesday at Robert Morris in a non-conference doubleheader.
