Hannah Shay joined the Bonnies women's soccer program in Summer 2019 and is in her first season with St. Bonaventure.
Shay was a two-year team captain and played four seasons at Cedarville University. During her collegiate career, she was named to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. A defender for the Lady Jackets, she started all 19 games with two goals and five total points in 2014 and was one of seven players on her team to start all 22 matches in 2013, also scoring two goals and finishing with five points before an injury limited her in her final two seasons.
During her high school career, she was a two-time Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association All-State selection and National Honor Society student.
Prior to St. Bonaventure, she began her coaching career in 2017 as a varsity assistant at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Va. In 2018, she served as a coach with the Internationals Girls Soccer Club in Medina, Ohio and was also an assistant coach at Hudson (OH) Middle School as well as with Ambassadors FC in Macedonia, Ohio.
She owns a U.S. Soccer D license and NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification.
Shay earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Cedarville as an Honors Dean's List student. She is currently working on a Masters Degree in Theological Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
