BUFFALO, N.Y. – Former St. Bonaventure University women's soccer associate head coach Abby Pearson has been named the head coach of the women's soccer program at D'Youville University. She was officially appointed to the position July 8.
"I am very excited to join the D'Youville women's soccer family and Saints community. I want to thank Ona Halladay, Rebecca Capinera and all those involved with the search committee for providing me with this opportunity," said Pearson.
Pearson joined the SBU program in 2017 and was promoted to associate head coach in 2018. Also while at St. Bonaventure, Pearson created, developed and tailored training sessions for the team and goalkeepers while also managing scholarships, scheduling, and travel.
"Our entire soccer family is beyond excited at the recent announcement of Abby Pearson as the next head women's soccer coach at D'Youville College," Bonnies head coach Steve Brdarski said. "Abby is a great leader, perfect role model, and an amazing soccer coach and she will build great things both on and off the field for the Saints. We are very grateful for all the energy and work that Abby invested these past four years, and she was tireless in her commitment to helping build relationships and representing Bonas in the best manner. We can't thank her enough for everything that she has done for student-athletes, alumni, the coaching staff, and our campus community. We are proud that she will always be a Bonnie wherever she goes and honored to be a part of her coaching journey. We will miss her and always be cheering for her and her team in the coming seasons."
A national search for her replacement is underway.
