Bonnies Battle Billikens To Very End But Fall, 1-0, In Double Overtime

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The St. Bonaventure University women's soccer team fell to No. 20 Saint Louis, 1-0, in the closing seconds Sunday afternoon on the road in the Bonnies season opener.

One overtime wasn't enough for either team to find the net. The score remained 0-0 heading into double OT.

With just 15 seconds left in second overtime, Anna Louis played a long ball over the top to Hannah Larson. Larsen was able to take a touch around St. Bonaventure's Mackenzie Nolan and punch home the game-winner with just five seconds left on the clock.

Nolan had a career-high 12 saves in her Bonnies (0-1, 0-1 A-10) debut.

Sunday served as the first Atlantic 10 games for both teams.

It was a slow first half for both teams as the contest remained scoreless through the first 45 minutes of action.

Mackenzie Nolan started the game with two early saves. The Brown and White showed great defensive effort by deflecting 15 shots at the net from the Billikens. The Bonnies had not shot attempts in the first half.

In the 65th minute, Nolan dives to the left of the net for her sixth save of the game.

Saint Louis (6-1, 1-0 A-10) looked to break the deadlock in the 70th minute when Friedrich's shot was denied by the post.

Neither team allowed for many opportunities to win the lead after halftime, limiting the Brown and White to no shots after intermission while the Billikens put together 19 shot attempts in the final 45 minutes.

The game finished in regulation at 0-0.

The Bonnies were able to get their first two shots of the game in overtime. Lydia Choban finally gets a look at the net in the 91ˢᵗ minute of the game in overtime, but was deflected by St. Louis.

The Bonnies are back in action Thursday, March 18 on the road against Duquesne. That game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
