ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Senior Bella May capped her career on a high note as she lifted the St. Bonaventure women's soccer team over George Mason, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex.
Prior to the start of the match, the Bonnies honored their eight members of the Class of 2020 – Isabelle LaBarbera, Bella Marra, Sydney Cerza, Bella May, Sabrina Sousa-Sampson, Maddie Mason, Rachel Collins, and Lauren Malcolm.
In the 17th minute, a trio of seniors came together on a throw in from sophomore Kacie Filian to give the Bonnies an early lead.
The Bonnies (7-10-1, 3-6-1 A-10) dominated the Patriots (3-11-3, 1-7-2 A-10) offensively for most of the match, leading them in shots, 7-4, shots on goal, 6-2, and corner kicks, 8-5.
A solid Bonnies defense held the visitors to just one shot in the second half. Bona recorded its fifth shutout of the season defensively.
With today's start, senior goalkeeper Lauren Malcolm moved into a tie for first place in program history with 74 career games in net. She finished an illustrious career with 452 saves, third all-time on the Bonnies career saves list. Her shutout Sunday was the 13th clean sheet of her career, giving her sole possession of third all-time in program history.
The Bonnies finish the season with seven wins, the most since 2014.
