NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Iona Monday afternoon on the road.
Senior Bella May notched her second goal of the season to put the Bonnies ahead 1-0 in the 19th minute in the first half as the Brown and White controlled early.
Iona answered and tied the game up at 1-1 just before halftime in the 40th minute on a Amber Crispin goal.
The Gaels grabbed the lead when Samantha Hogan scored in the 61st minute and did not look back in the second half. Iona added an insurance goal in the 71st minutes when Faith Preziosi found the back of the net, bringing the score to 3-1.
The Bonnies, however, outshot the Gaels 12-8 and won the corner battle, 8-3. May finished the game with three shots and Kenzie Tarmino fired two shots.
Next up for the Bonnies is a matchup with Valparaiso Friday, Sept. 6 at the Marra Athletics Complex. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
