ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team couldn't overcome the Atlantic 10 conference leading Saint Louis Billikens Sunday afternoon, falling 2-0.
The Bonnies held Senior Day festivities in pre-game, honoring their six members of the Class of 2019 : Gretta LaCouture, Mariah Marrero, Marley Jarvis, Tori Bernardo, Jessica Scruggs and Kylie Terwilliger.
The Billikens struck almost instantly to gain a 1-0 lead when Hannah Fredrich scored her ninth goal of the season in the 2nd minute.
Despite the early goal, Bonnies goalkeeper Lauren Malcolm stayed strong in net and had some impressive diving saves.
In the 30th minute, she dove to her right to block an almost sure goal, then got back up on her feet to deflect another. She added another diving save seven minutes later to bring her first half save total to seven. She ended the day with nine total stops.
The Billikens went into the half with a 2-0 lead following Maddie Pokorny's seventh goal of the season in the 41st minute when Isabella Palazzolo drove along the end line, flicking a pass in front to Pokorny where she finished on one touch at point-blank range.
The Bonnies' best chance to score came in the second half when Sydney Cerza fired a shot on net, but a nice save by Billikens keeper Olivia Silverman kept the hosts off the board.
Silverman made three saves to earn the win in net.
The Bonnies are back in action Thursday when they play host to Duquesne for the final home game of the season at 7 p.m.
