LAST TIME OUT
Host Florida Gulf Coast found the net in the 20th and 77th minutes to hold off the St. Bonaventure women's soccer team, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon. Things were even in the second half as the two sides were equal at nine shots apiece. Danielle Vis nearly got the Bonnies on the board, placing two shots on net as Bona tried to find the equalizer before Young's tally. Vis finished the afternoon with five total shots, three on net, while Jessica Scruggs also forced two saves.
The Bonnies have played their best at home so far this season, going 2-1-1 on home turf. The offense has also been much more prolific at the Marra Athletics Complex as the Bonnies have scored 12 of their 13 goals on the season in home games. The Bonnies scored six goals in their last home game, a 6-0 win vs. Youngstown State, their highest offensive output since 2004.
Bryant will look to snap a recent cold spell as the Bulldogs have dropped four of their past five games including a 2-1 setback at home vs. Hartford last Sunday in their last game. Bryant began the year strong, starting 3-1 with wins at home vs. Iona (2-0), and at Stony Brook (1-0) as well as a neutral site victory over Fairfield (1-0). Haley Reddish and Remi Manna lead the team with two goals apiece. Senior goalkeeper Kaylan Conrad has played the lion's share of the time in net, posting a 0.92 goals against average with 43 saves. Conrad was named the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the first week of the season while Manna was named Rookie of the Week for her contributions during the first week of the season as well. Bryant earned its first-ever trip to the NEC Tournament last year after going 4-2-2 in conference play at 5-11-3 overall.
The Bonnies begin Atlantic 10 action by traveling to George Mason on Thursday, Sept. 29 and stay in the area of the nation's capital for a Sunday, Oct. 2 contest at George Washington.
