PHILADELPHIA — The St. Bonaventure Bonnies fell on the road to the Saint Joseph's Hawks, 20-2.
"We came out ready to go, played well early, had some good compete and battled hard," Women's Lacrosse head coach Jason Levesque said. "We missed some opportunities that need to be converted, and maybe we have a little bit of a different game play out. However, our inconsistency on both sides of the ball really did us in. Any time we made a mistake, it was converted by Joe's and they made us pay. They're a very strong team, well coached, talented, good depth in all areas. Combine all of that with our inconsistent execution and its impossible to win, especially against the quality opponents we face in the A-10. Our effort remains though, and I'm proud of the group for that. We keep learning lessons and our young team will be better in the long run gaining the experience we are."
The Bonnies (2-8, 0-6 A-10) were able to keep a defensive battle for the first 15 minutes, down just 2-1 at the 16:55 mark after a goal from Sarah Owens, but the Hawks never allowed the game to get close again.
Saint Joseph's (8-5, 5-1) went on a 14-0 run over the next 32 minutes to take complete control en route to the victory.
The Bonnies return home Sunday, April 18 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day against La Salle.
