PITTSBURGH — The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team fell on the road to the Duquesne Dukes, 16-7, Sunday afternoon.
Seven different Bonnies were able to crack the scoring column, led by Rebecca Howe's two goals, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with the Dukes offense.
"Our inconsistency remains our Achilles' heel, especially in terms of execution," Bonnies head coach Jason Levesque. "Overall, we gave a good effort, and our compete level is improving, but we can't choose when to turn things on, when we want to play. We need to be ready to go when the game starts, not once we get settled in and find ourselves in a hole we can't climb out of."
SBU got off to a hot start over the first eight minutes. Goals from Nora Anderson and Howe spurred a 2-1 early lead, but the Dukes took over from there and never looked back.
Over the next 27 minutes, Duquesne went on a 12-0 run to take a 13-2 lead and eventually a 16-7 victory.
In net, senior Savannah Clarke started, played all 60 minutes and racked up 19 saves, tying her all-time best in a single game.
The Bonnies return to action on the road against Saint Joseph's Friday, April 16 at 4 p.m.
