Julia Davidson gave the Bonnies a 10-9 lead with 18:19 remaining in the game, halting a 5-0 Akron scoring run.

Alexis Kiefer's goal with 16:03 to play in the second half tied the game back up midway through the half.

Rebecca Howe and Hiltz then scored back-to-back to give the Bonnies a late 12-10 lead they would not relinquish.

Madeline Shewbridge tried to get the Zips back in the contest with a goal with 14:25 on the clock.

Johnson added an insurance goal with 11:25 remaining in the second half to put the Bonnies up 13-11, earning the victory.

The Bonnies (2-2) opened the scoring just 30 seconds into the contest when Destinee Johnson netted her first score of the game.

Hiltz and Maddie Mazur added two more Bonaventure goals to open the game, giving the Bonnies an early 3-0 lead.

Akron (3-4) answered with three goals of their own to tie the game, 3-3, just under 10 minutes in.

Courtney Fox's goal with 8:31 remaining in the first half sparked a 4-0 run for the Bonnies, taking an 8-4 lead just before halftime.

The Zips got a goal back before the halftime horn, cutting the deficit to three at the break.

Ashley Herrick earned the win in net for the Brown and White, stopping 10 Akron shots. Emily Mahon caused four turnovers on defense and Rebecca Howe won seven draw controls to help pace the Bonnies.

"The team really battled hard today, both physically and mentally," head coach Jason Levesque stated. "I am very proud of the collective effort from every single member of our program.  It's a game of runs, and whenever we were able to build any sort of momentum with consecutive goals, Akron was able to counter with a couple of runs of their own.  Have to give their staff and student-athletes a ton of credit, they battled just as hard as we did.  We have a great deal of respect for them and look forward to our next battle."

The Bonnies are back in action Friday, March 26 at the Marra Athletics Complex against Duquesne to open Atlantic 10 play. That game is scheduled to start a 2:00 p.m.
