Three Keys To The Game
- Junior Destinee Johnson collected 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists), tying the single-game program record.
- Three Bonnies recorded hat tricks: Johnson, Ashley Easterday and Rylee Arnold.
- Eight different players cracked the scoreboard and seven had multi-point games.
KENT, Ohio — Destinee Johnson's 10 points powered the St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team to an 18-10 win over Kent State Sunday afternoon.
Johnson is the first Bonnie since Brenna Houghton on March 5, 2008 to record 10 points in a single game, and only the third in program history to rack up double digits.
Her seven assists were one short of the program record of eight, held by Houghton from that same game in 2008.
The Golden Flashes (0-5), playing in their first season at the NCAA Division I level, jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on their home turf, but Rylee Arnold answered right back to things up eight minutes in and spurred the Bonnies on a 6-0 run that they never looked back from.
For Siluano it was her first in a Bonnies uniform and one of two on the day.
Kent State answered with a quick 2-0 run of their own to make it 7-3, but the Bonnies closed the first half on a 4-1 stretch to take a 10-4 lead into the break behind goals from Easterday, Kyra O'Gorman, Olivia MacDonald and Julia Davidson. Two of those assisted by Johnson.
St. Bonaventure (1-3) kicked off the second on a torrid pace and opened up the game even further over the next 21 minutes. The Bonnies outscored the Golden Flashes 7-4, which included two goals from Arnold, two goals and three assists from Johnson and the fourth of the day for Easterday.
The Bonnies' 18th final goal of the day came from MacDonald with 1:29 on the clock and wrapped up the first win of the season.
Ashley Easterday recorded the Bonnies first hat trick of the season with 23 seconds remaining in the first half on an unassisted goal. It was the third hat trick of her career. As a freshman, she netted three against Richmond and Duquesne. Also, her six total points today surpassed her previous single-game career high of five against Duquesne.
Rylee Arnold recorded her sixth career hat trick and the second of the Bonnies season. She has a career-high five three or more goal games last season. Her four points on the day were one behind her career high of five against VCU last season.
The Bonnies continue their four-game spring break road trip on Thursday when they visit Kennesaw State before wrapping up on March 10 against Mercer.
