PHILADELPHIA, Pa - The Saint Joseph's Hawks flew out to an early 4-0 lead and never looked back, cruising to a 20-6 win over St. Bonaventure Friday evening.
Rylee Arnold put an end to the Hawks fast start with a free position goal at the 23:46 mark of the first half. Exactly 3 minutes later, Julia Davidson would cut the SJU lead down to two when she took a feed from Gabrielle Bradley, scoring her sixth goal of the year.
From that point, SJU would score three straight goals to extend the lead to 7-2. Destinee Johnson would answer the Hawks run with a goal of her own to bring the back within striking distance at 7-3.
However, Saint Joseph's would respond fast, and the Hawks exploded for seven goals over the final 11 minutes of the half to hold a commanding 14-3 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Bonnies offense simply couldn't keep up. The brown and white only managed three goals while the Hawks found the back of the net six more times.
All three goalies saw playing time during the game. Senior Morgan Conroy started and played the first 22 minutes, surrendering 11 goals and making 9 saves. Conroy gave way to Savannah Clarke who played the next 24:28 giving up 7 goals while making 3 saves. Senior Kerrigan Cummings played the final 13:29, making 1 save.
St. Bonaventure will remain in Philadelphia to take on La Salle Sunday afternoon. Face off is set for 11:30 am
