The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team will visit the city of brotherly love this weekend for their final road trip of the season. The Bonnies will face Saint Joseph's Friday and then take on La Salle Sunday morning.
Scouting Saint Joseph's
The Hawks enter Friday's game fresh off a win Sunday afternoon against Davidson. With a record of 6-6 and 2-2 in conference play, the hawks are positioned 6th in the conference rankings. The top six teams will qualify for the conference championship.
The hawks are led by Rebecca Lane and Francesca Donato. The pair has scored 26 goals each on the year with Lane adding 23 assists for her team. She is leading the team with 49 points. Her 23 assists ranks third in the conference.
The Bonnies will likely see Liz O'Sullivan in net. O'Sullivan has started all 12 games for SJU. The grad student surrenders an average of 13.64 goals per game while sporting a .447 save percentage.
The Hawks will look to pressure the Bonnies as SJU averages 31 shots a game and 12.65 goals per game.
Scouting La Salle
The explorers enter Sunday's game on a 4 game losing streak. La Salle's last win came on March 23rd vs. LIU Brooklyn. Both teams will look for their first win in conference play as La Salle sports an identical 0-4 record as the Bonnies.
The one, two punch of Brittany Edwards and Bridget Ruskey has provided the majority of the offense for the explorers this season. Edwards, a senior, leads the team with 36 goals while Freshman Ruskey is a close second, netting 34 goals of her own. The two rank 3rd and 4th, Respectively, in the conference for goals this season. The Bonnies will need to keep tabs on these two as the next highest scorer for the Explorers is Mikki Raymond, who has scored 14 goals on the season.
Defensively, La Salle is anchored by Lynn Frankel. The Sophomore has started 11 of the 12 games, sporting a 4-6 record. Frankel surrenders 11.78 goals per game, ranking 6th in the conference.
Shoot to Thrill
The Bonnies will once again look to junior Rylee Arnold to lead the offense this weekend. Arnold ranks second in the conference in shots taken this season with 84. Only Kim Egizi from Richmond has taken more (92).
Arnold leads the team with 24 goals and has added 6 assists for her team leading 30 points. Ashley Easterday, who ranks second on the team with 15 goals, will be called upon to help lead St. Bonaventure offensively as the Bonnies seek to capture their first win of the season.
Defensively, the Bonnies are anchored by Senior Morgan Conroy. Conroy ranks among the top in the conference in multiple goal keeping stats. Goals against (99), Save Percentage (51.9) and saves (107).
The Bonnies will look to defend their home turf next weekend with a pair of games against George Mason and Davidson. The Bonnies will take on the Patriots Friday, April 20th, starting at 4:00 PM.
