ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse team was held scoreless in the second half as the George Washington Colonials pulled away for a 14-3 Atlantic 10 decision on Saturday afternoon at the Marra Athletic Complex.
George Washington took an early 2-0 lead in the first three minutes of play on goals from Jocelyn Donahue and Aidan Cage.
The Colonials scored five unanswered goals in a 13-minute span in the first half. Camaryn Kerns, Ioanna Mantzouratos, Caroline Kiernan and Donahue each put shots in the net.
Destinee Johnson scored her first goal of 2018 to cut the deficit to four, 7-3, with four minutes remaining in the half
After a scoreless first 10 minutes of the second half, GW's Donahue scored her third goal of the game for an 8-3 lead.
The Colonials kept the pressure on as Mantzouratos drilled two more goals in the back of the net, extending the GW lead to 10-3. The Colonials added another score on Morgan McDonnell's seventh goal of the season.
Donahue picked up her fourth goal of the day and Allie Scannapieco added her first of the game, making the lead 13-3. Katie Quinn added one more goal with 13 seconds on the clock, making the final score 14-3 as GW outscored the Bonnies 7-0 during the second half to pull away.
The Bonnies fall to 0-10 and 0-2 in the Atlantic 10 while George Washington improves to 8-2 and the 1-1 in A-10 play.
The Brown and White return to action on Friday, April 6 on the road at UMass. That game is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
