Bonnies Fall on West Coast to Fresno State, 19-7

FRESNO, Ca. – Junior Rylee Arnold scored four goals, but the St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-7 decision to Fresno State Tuesday.

The Bulldogs came out of the gate firing, scoring five unanswered goals within the first seven minutes of play.

Freshman Ashley Easterday put the Bonnies on the board with her fifth goal of the season. Avery Teeple was credited with her fourth assist of the season, cutting the deficit to 5-1.

A Fresno State goal with 17:19 in the first half extended the lead to 6-1. The Bonnies, however, would answer when Teeple found Kyra O'Gorman who netted her fourth goal of the season, bringing the Fresno lead down to 6-2.

Three free position goals for the Bulldogs gave the hosts a 9-2 lead with 13:31 remaining in the first half.

Teeple and Arnold scored back-to-back unassisted goals, cutting the score to 9-4.

Another five straight goals for Fresno State between the conclusion of the first half and the 28:57 mark in the second half extended the Bulldog lead to 15-5.

Arnold notched goals seven and eight on free position shots at the 24:04 and 17:28 marks in the second half. She added another goal with 3:29 remaining, giving her nine goals early in the season.

The Bulldogs added four more scores before Arnold's fourth goal, putting the game out of reach.

Fresno State tallied 40 shots to St. Bonaventure's 20.

Savannah Clarke made 10 saves in the cage and Kerrigan Cummins stopped nine shots.

The Bonnies move to 0-4 on the year while the Bulldogs improve to 3-2.

St. Bonaventure remain on the West Coast, playing at San Diego State Friday. The opening draw is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. PST and 10:00 p.m. EST.
