ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure lost 19-11 to Duquesne on Sunday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex.
The Dukes scored the first eight goals of the game – six in the first 6:17 – to grab control. Gabrielle Bradley got the Bonnies on the scoreboard at the 15:15 mark, but it was a 12-3 game at halftime.
In the second half, Duquesne remained on the offensive and scored the first five goals of that period to extend its lead to 17-3. The Bonnies scored six goals over the game's final 2:53.
Duquesne out-shot St. Bonaventure 45-28 on the day. Bonnies freshman goalie Morgan Conroy faced 32 shots and made 15 saves.
Mikayla Place led the Bonnies with four goals while Mary Maestri added three. Taylor Fallon, Rachel Perla, Kaitlin Jennings and Bradley each scored once. Place and Maestri each recorded a pair of assists.
Kaelin Shaw scored six goals for the Dukes.
St. Bonaventure, which lost its third straight, fell to 1-9 overall and 0-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Duquesne moved to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in the A-10.
The Bonnies' next game is April 4 at home against nationally-ranked UMass at noon.
