Women's lacrosse announces 2010 captains

Fischer, Hastrich and Waheibi named co-captains

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team announced its captains for the 2010 campaign. Senior Victoria Waheibi will join two-time captains Ashley Fischer and Molly Hastrich as captains this season.

"We are excited to announce our three captains for the 2010 season, Ashley, Molly and Tori,” said head coach Christy Malone. “They are all great leaders who are driven and focused, and should help lead our team to a great season."

Hastrich, who finished last season ranked seventh in the nation with 77 points (62 goals, 15 assists), was a first team all-conference selection in 2009.

"This is our last season, so we are preparing more than we ever have,” Hastrich said. “As seniors, we know how it feels to go to the A-10 Tournament. I want our team to feel what it's like to win the A-10 Championship."

Fischer, a feisty defender who played a critical role in the Bonnies performance last year, looks to do more of the same this season.

“I am really excited about this upcoming season,” Fischer said. “We have a very strong team all over the field. This being my last year, I want to win the A-10 Championship more than anything, and I believe we have the talent and determination to do so.”

“I am looking forward to this season, playing with a great team,” Waheibi said, who netted 789.19 minutes for the Bonnies last season. “We believe that, not only do we have a chance to go to the A-10 Tournament, we also have a chance to win. I am proud to be a captain on such a talented team.”

St. Bonaventure lacrosse opens its 11th season when it travels to the west coast to face the University of Oregon on February 21.
