ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Asianae Johnson poured in a game-high 18 points and Olivia Brown added a season-high 17 points to lead the St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team to a 72-55 win over Duquesne Monday evening at the Reilly Center.

Johnson finished the night 8-of-12 from the floor and also dished out a career-high nine assists on the night while Brown was 6-for-8 from the floor and 5-for-7 from three-point range. Tori Harris and Emily Calabrese each scored 11 points to help pace the Bona offense.

The Brown and White led for 38:54 on the way to victory Monday night.

The Bonnies controlled the contest from the opening tip, opening up a 21-10 lead after a first quarter where they shot 53 percent from the floor.

Freshman Maddie Dziezgowski opened the second quarter with a three-pointer for the Bonnies, pushing their lead to 14.

St. Bonaventure's ended the second quarter with a 14-1 run to take a 46-21 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Bonnies shot 76.9 percent from the floor during the first 20 minutes, including 5-for-6 from beyond the arc in the second quarter to opened up their lead.

The Bonnies' (6-12, 5-10 A-10) first half momentum stayed with them as they quickly pushed their lead to 27, 48-21, after Harris' second chance points on the Bonnies first possession of the half.

Duquesne (4-9, 3-6 A-10) tried its best to make a comeback in the fourth quarter Friday as Megan McConnell's layup with 6:14 left in the game brought the Dukes back within 15, 60-45.

McConnell went 1-for-2 from the free throw line with 1:26 to play to cut the Duquesne deficit to 13, but that's all the closer the visitors would get as moments later a pair of free throws from Johnson pushed the Bona lead back to 15, icing the contest for the hosts.

Ny Langly led the offense for Duquesne, scoring 17 points and hauling in six rebounds.

The Bonnies are back in action Friday, Feb. 29 in the City of Brotherly Love when they visit Saint Joseph's. Tip is slated for 6:00 p.m.
