ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – A 20-run spanning eight minutes set the tone as the St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team defeated Davidson, 71-58, Sunday afternoon at the Reilly Center.

Asianae Johnson matched her season-high of 18 points to lead the way for the Bonnies. Johnson shot 8-of-11 from the floor and also grabbed six rebounds. Tori Harris was also in double figures for the Brown and White with 13 points and also hauled in six rebounds.

The Bonnies came out after the halftime break and remained in control of the contest.

Davidson, however, would make a run in the third to pull within three, 41-38, after an Adelaide Fuller layup with 4:22 to play in the period.

Sophomore I'yanna Lops took matters into her own hands, scoring four out of the next six points for the Bonnies, pushing their lead back to nine, 47-38.

That would be as close as Davidson would get the rest of the way as the Bonnies led five or more throughout the rest of the contest.

Johnson solidified the St. Bonaventure victory with a jumper in the fourth, gave the Bonnies their biggest lead of the half, 66-53, with 2:54 to play.

The Bonnies took momentum early in the contest, ending the first quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 17-10 lead. Bona held the Wildcats without a point over the final 5:17 of the first period.

St. Bonaventure's lead grew to as many as 17, 27-10, in the second quarter. Their 10-0 sprint from the first quarter turned into a 20-0 run in the second and held Davidson without a basket for just over 10 minutes.

Bona were able to hold on to their first half lead and take a 34-26 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Chloe Welch led the Davidson offense with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Suzi-Rose Deegan and Katie Turner each added 10 points for the Wildcats.

The Bonnies and the Wildcats take the court again Monday evening. Tip is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
