Billikens Prove Too Much For Bonnies Friday Night

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – A cold-shooting night saw the St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team fall to Saint Louis, 65-50, Friday evening at the Reilly Center.

Asianae Johnson led the way for the Bonnies with 12 points, five steals and four rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for the Bonnies was Tori Harris who added 12 points and hauled in five rebounds.

The Bonnies were able to jump out to an early 7-3 lead in the first quarter but Saint Louis would go on a 10-0 run to end the period, taking a 13-7 edge.

The Billikens defense clamped down at the end of the first, holding the Bonnie scoreless for the final 6:52 of the first period.

Saint Louis (4-2, 2-2 A-10) ultimately turned its run into a 14-0 sprint to take a 17-7 advantage a minute into the second.

The visitors grew their lead to as many as 16 in the first half, taking a 33-17 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Momentum stayed with Saint Louis in the second half as the lead grew to 21 midway through the third, 47-26, after a Rachel Kent three pointer.

The Bonnies (2-9, 1-7) failed to get within under 14 points in the second half as Saint Louis maintained its double digit lead en route to the victory.

Brooke Flowers powered the Billikens Friday evening with a game-high 19 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks. Ciaja Harbison added 11 points and dished out seven assists.

As a team, Saint Louis rejected 10 shots on the night and was +17 in rebounding.

The Bonnies are back in action Sunday when Dayton visits the Reilly Center. Tip is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
