AMHERST, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's basketball team was defeated by Buffalo, 71-52, Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena.
The Bonnies were led by Asianae Johnson with 12 points to go along with three assists and two rebounds. Sophomore I'yanna Lops chipped in a career-high 11 points and four rebounds on the afternoon and classmate Olivia Brown also added 11 points.
It was all Buffalo for most of the first half, as UB pushed its lead to as many as 17 at 40-23 with just under three minutes to go in the first half.
The Bonnies, however, ended the second period on a 6-0 run to trim the Bulls' lead to 40-29 as the teams headed into the locker room.
Coming out of the halftime break, the Bonnies held Buffalo without a field goal for the first 5:51 of the second half and were able to pull within nine, 44-35, after Lops converted a basket in the paint.
The Bulls answered with a 14-6 run to end the third and take command of the contest at a 58-41 lead.
Dyaisha Fair led all scorers with 20 points and Loren Christie hauled in 17 rebounds for the Bulls.
The Bonnies travel to Queens, N.Y. Dec. 22 to take on St. John's (N.Y.). Tip is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.

- The Bonnies outscored the Bulls 10-8 on points off turnovers, forcing 13 UB turnovers on the day.
- I'yanna Lops 11 points is a new career-high for the sophomore. Her previous career-high was eight points against Washington while at Cal State Bakersfield.
