KENT, Ohio – The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team fell to Kent State, 81-58, Tuesday afternoon on the road in Ohio.
Kent State (5-2) controlled the contest for the majority of the first half, pushing its lead to as many as 11 with 6:27 to play in the second quarter. The Bonnies, however, used a 6-0 burst capped off by a President layup midway through the second period to pull within three, 25-22.
The Golden Flashes responded by making a pair of threes in the final 30 seconds of the first half to take a 33-26 lead into halftime.
Olivia Tucker's three to open the third quarter scoring for the Bonnies, brought the visitors within four, 33-29. Kent State then used a 7-0 run to push its lead back to seven with seven minutes to play in the third.
Junior Kayla Wilson made her Bona debut and scored five straight points to bring the Bonnies within eight with 6:16 remaining in the third.
In the third quarter, Kent State erased any doubt by scoring 19 out of its 25 points at the free throw line to take a 58-42 lead into the final period.
Kent State opened up a 20-point cushion in the fourth quarter and never looked back.
Megan Carter led the Golden Flashes with 21 points.
The Bonnies are back in action Saturday at the Reilly Center when they host rival Buffalo. Tip is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and is part of a doubleheader with the men's team.

- Junior Kayla Wilson made her St. Bonaventure debut in the first quarter of Tuesday's contest.
- Jurnee President led the Bonnies with 15 points and six rebounds.
- The Bonnies shot 22-of-54 from the floor (40.7%) and 4-of-13 from three (28.6%).
