ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University women's basketball head coach Jesse Fleming has announced the non-conference schedule for Bonnies' 2019-20 season. The 13-game slate includes seven home games, four true road games and two neutral court contests.
St. Bonaventure will challenge itself by playing six teams that reached a national postseason tournament a season ago.
The Bonnies open the regular season with three straight home games. Opening Night comes Tuesday, Nov. 5 when the Bona welcomes Big East foe St. John's as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. Another chapter in the longest running series in program history with Little Three rival Niagara is slated for Thursday, Nov. 7 when the teams meet for the 63rd time. The opening week rounds out with a matchup against Akron Nov. 10, a squad that reached last year's Women's Basketball Invitational.
St. Bonaventure's first road trip of the regular season is a visit to Lewisburg, Pa. Nov. 13 to face defending Patriot League champion Bucknell. Following the contest against the Bison, the Brown and White takes on Little Three rival Canisius Nov. 17 in Buffalo. Last season in the 53rd meeting between the two sides, the Bonnies outlasted the Griffs in a triple overtime classic.
After a six-day break, the Bonnies return home Nov. 23 to square off against Cleveland State.
Trips to Binghamton Nov. 27 and Kent State, which reached last season's WNIT, Dec. 3 completes the true road games for the Bonnies.
The Buffalo Bulls, fresh off a MAC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth, come to town Dec. 7. After an eight-day break, the Bonnies welcome Horizon League foe Oakland to the Reilly Center Dec. 15.
The Bonnies will spend the holiday break in the Sunshine State in Orlando, participating in the UCF Tournament Dec. 20-21. Tournament details are yet to be finalized, however, while they are there the Bonnies are guaranteed to play two teams that made a national postseason tournament last year.
The final non-conference game takes place at home against Cornell on Dec. 29.
Fleming's team features seven players from last year's squad – seniors Dajah Logan, Amanda Oliver and Claudia Del Moral, junior Emily Calabrese and sophomores Asianae Johnson, Deja Francis and Carrie Jornlin.
