A-10 PLAY BEGINS: St. Bonaventure opens Atlantic 10 play Saturday afternoon, hosting Duquesne in the first of two games this season between the regional rivals. The start to Atlantic 10 play will be a challenging road for the Bonnies - Duquesne entered the season as the preseason favorite in the A-10 coaches poll. Next week, the Bonnies travel to play on the road at Saint Joseph's and George Mason which were picked fifth and eighth respectively in the preseason A-10 coaches poll.

PUT UP YOUR DUKES: Bonnies senior Mckenna Maycock has played very well vs. Duquesne in the past two seasons. Maycock has scored in double figures against the Dukes in four straight games, averaging 15.2 ppg.

APPROACHING MILESTONES: With nine points Saturday, redshirt junior Bree Paulson would reach 700 for her collegiate career including the 581 she posted in two seasons at Western Nebraska CC. Fellow redshirt junior Dajah Logan, meanwhile, needs just one point to reach 500 for her collegiate career including 378 scored in two seasons at College of Charleston.

NON-CONFERENCE TESTS: St. Bonaventure will enter the Atlantic 10 portion of the schedule well tested after having faced a challenging non-conference slate. The Bonnies have played five RPI Top 150 teams, with four being on road or neutral floors (at Buffalo, RPI 58; vs. Ohio, 61; at Penn State, 103; at Georgia, 149) as well as a home date vs. RPI 42 Bucknell. Three Bonnies foes - Buffalo (No. 6), Ohio (No. 8), Bucknell (No. 9) - are also currently in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25.

FOR STARTERS: The Bonnies have won two of their past three Atlantic 10 openers, taking wins over Rhode Island in back-to-back seasons before dropping last year's A-10 opener at Saint Louis on Dec. 31, 2017. The last time the Bonnies opened conference action with Duquesne was New Year's Day 2014 when the Dukes claimed a 73-65 win in Pittsburgh. The last time these two teams met at the Reilly Center in the A-10 season-opener was a Bonnies win, 61-53, on Jan. 7, 2012.

THREE GOGGLES: Despite a 2-for-24 effort beyond the arc Dec. 31 at Cornell, the Bonnies remain one of the A-10's top teams from long distance. Entering Saturday, the Bonnies rank tied third in 3-point percentage at 32.0 percent for the year and their 6.2 threes per game also rank fourth in the conference.

BOARD WORK: Both Emily Calabrese and Amanda Oliver are among the A-10's leaders in rebounding. Calabrese finished with nine boards in the game Dec. 31 at Cornell, her third game of nine or more rebounds this season to move into 12th in the conference at 6.0 rebounds per game. Calabrese's five offensive rebounds matched a career high she posted twice last season (vs. UMBC, at Rhode Island) on the offensive glass. Oliver, meanwhile, is right behind at 13th in the league standings by averaging 5.9 rebounds per contest.

D-FENSE: St. Bonaventure will try to continue a strong close to Monday's game at Cornell on the defensive end. The Bonnies allowed just five points during the fourth quarter, matching the best defensive effort in a quarter this season - the Bonnies also held Hofstra to five points in the third quarter on Nov. 17.

ANOTHER DOUBLE-FIGURE SCORING EFFORT FOR DEJA: Freshman Deja Francis finished with 14 points Monday at Cornell, the second-highest scoring output of her young career behind only a career-best 20 points vs. Siena on Dec. 7. For the year, Francis has posted five double-figure scoring efforts - and if early season returns are any indication, could do so again Saturday vs. Duquesne as she put together back-to-back double-figure scoring games Nov. 17 & 23 vs. Hofstra and Ohio as well as Dec. 7 & 9 vs. Siena and Penn State.

BLOCK PARTY: St. Bonaventure recorded a season-high six blocks Monday at Cornell. It marked the most blocks in a game for the Bonnies since the team had six vs. Duquesne on Feb. 21, 2017. Mckenna Maycock had a career-high three swats in the game, the most in a single game for a Bonnies player since Arielle Harvey had three Dec. 17, 2017.

BEYOND THE ARC: St. Bonaventure matched a season low with just two 3-pointers in Monday's game at Cornell, equaling the Georgia game in November. St. Bonaventure has hit six or more 3s in eight of 13 games thus far.

STEALING ASIANAE: Freshman Asianae Johnson recorded a career-high three steals at Cornell.

BONNIES VS. DUQUESNE - SERIES HISTORY
  • St. Bonaventure and Duquesne will meet for the 58th time on Saturday afternoon.
  • The Bonnies have won four of the last six meetings at the Reilly Center and 14 of their 20 wins all-time in the series have come on home court.
  • The Bonnies have played just one other Atlantic 10 team more times in their history - UMass (60 meetings).
  • The last time these two teams met, it was a thriller at The RC. Duquesne came away with a come-from-behind 76-73 win on Feb. 23, 2018. The Bonnies built a 38-23 lead early, but a trey at the intermission buzzer from Duquesne's Kadri-Ann Lass sent the Dukes to half with some momentum that they took into the third quarter, outscoring SBU by a 26-8 margin. St. Bonaventure held a lead during the fourth quarter, but could not overcome the Duquesne rally. Mckenna Maycock finished with 16 points while Danielle Migliore had a double-double of 13 points, 10 rebounds.
ABOUT DUQUESNE
  • Duquesne was selected the preseason favorite in the A-10 coaches poll in October and seniors Chassidy Omogrosso and Julijana Vojinovic were named preseason A-10 First Team. Seniors Kadri-Ann Lass and Conor Richardson were named to the Second Team.
  • Duquesne has a record of 6-7 through non-conference play thanks to a challenging schedule that saw the Dukes open with games at RV TCU and #11/8 Texas. A setback at RPI Top 90 squad Toledo  as well as #15/14 Syracuse and at Pitt are also included in Duquesne's schedule thus far - as well as wins over Penn State and Temple on Wednesday night.
  • Lass and Vojinovic lead the team by each averaging 10.8 points per game while Lass paces the team on the boards with 6.8 rpg.
